Principal Julie Nariman with students from the Class of 2019

High School of Language and Innovation (HSLI) is a special place. Students from all over the world work together to learn English, math, science, history, arts, foreign languages, and sports. Student learn how to be responsible and how to learn as a team.

HSLI was started in order to meet the needs of the growing number of newcomer immigrant English Language Learners in the Bronx.  We graduated our first class in 2015.

Principal’s journey: I started as an English teacher in New York City in 2000.  Nine years later, I worked as an assistant principal of English as a Second Language.  I became the founding principal of HSLI in 2011. I am so proud of our teachers, parents, students, and community partners for helping us to make HSLI the great place that it is.
